Join us, grow with us, and together, let's shape the future of biological discovery. ‎ About the opportunity You contribute directly to QIAGEN’s production success by applying advanced technical and scientific expertise in microbial fermentation and downstream processing. Working in a regulated production environment, you independently run bacterial and yeast fermentation processes at production scale, support continuous process optimization, and take responsibility for shift coordination. The role offers strong technical ownership, project involvement, and the opportunity to influence process improvements across sites in northern Poland. Your tasks include Providing hands-on technical and scientific expertise to support production processes and daily manufacturing operations. Independently conducting bacterial and yeast fermentation processes, from inoculum preparation through full bioreactor runs, in line with production schedules. Performing initial downstream processing steps and supporting process robustness and scalability. Acting as shift leader by coordinating and supervising designated laboratory personnel during production shifts. Operating, monitoring, and troubleshooting advanced laboratory and production equipment such as bioreactors, filtration systems, and centrifuges. Leading and contributing to projects including process validation, fermentation and downstream optimization, and equipment qualification. Identifying production issues, implementing corrective actions, and continuously improving processes, documentation, and workplace standards. Your profile Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or a related scientific or engineering field. At least 3 years of hands-on experience with bacterial and yeast fermentation using genetically modified microorganisms (GMMs), including shake flask and production-scale work in an ISO-compliant environment. Practical experience with bioreactors and associated downstream processing equipment in a production or pilot setting. Fluent Polish and intermediate English skills. Experience in purification of recombinant proteins using chromatography techniques (e.g. FPLC) is a strong advantage. Willingness to work flexibly between QIAGEN sites in Gdynia and Gdańsk (primarily Gdynia). Willingness to work in a shift system (morning and afternoon shifts according to the schedule).
