REMOTE Tax Manager

Carr Talent Acquisition US, Pennsylvania
Remote Full Time

Job description

Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced Tax Manager to become a trusted technical leader within our sustainable practice.

This is much more than a traditional tax preparation role. You'll serve as the owner's technical partner, helping lead tax planning, review complex returns, mentor staff, improve processes, and provide thoughtful guidance to clients.

Our firm has built its reputation over nearly 30 years by serving Amish, Mennonite, and other Plain communities, along with individuals and businesses who value personal relationships, trust, and practical advice over transactional service. We are looking for someone who appreciates relationship-based accounting and enjoys helping clients solve real business and tax challenges.

If you're looking to leave the pressure of a large public accounting firm while continuing to do meaningful technical work with flexibility and autonomy, we'd love to talk with you.

What You'll Do

  • Review and oversee preparation of individual, partnership, S-corporation, and business tax returns.
  • Provide proactive tax planning for individuals and closely held businesses.
  • Research complex tax issues and communicate practical solutions.
  • Mentor, coach, and review the work of tax preparers.
  • Help improve tax workflows, quality control, and department processes.
  • Monitor changes in tax law and communicate their impact to clients and the team.
  • Partner closely with the owner to strengthen the firm's tax services and expand advisory offerings.
  • Build trusted, long-term relationships with clients through clear, practical communication.
  • Help shape the future direction of a stable, well-respected accounting practice.

What You Bring

  • CPA or EA designation preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
  • Strong public accounting or tax experience
  • Strong knowledge of individual and business taxation
  • Experience reviewing returns and providing technical guidance
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • A collaborative leadership style with a passion for mentoring others and providing constructive feedback
  • Respect for relationship-based client service and diverse cultural backgrounds

Why Join Us?

  • Flexible remote or hybrid work options
  • Flexible scheduling outside of tax season
  • Stable, referral-based client base
  • Opportunity to work directly with the firm's owner and influence the future of the practice
  • High level of autonomy with meaningful client relationships
  • Paid time off and holidays
  • Continuing education support
  • Potential bonus opportunities
  • Opportunity to help modernize systems and improve firm operations

Salary: $80,000 - $110,000, depending on experience and qualifications
