Duties
This position is for 24 hours per week. A Medical Laboratory Scientist II in the core section is experienced in laboratory testing in the areas of hematology, coagulation, immunology, chemistry and/or special chemistry in a hospital setting and fulfills all the responsibilities and tasks of a MLS I as well as performing quality assurance metric studies, training, competency assessment, and training/competency assessments.

Daily quality control review for assigned instruments. Organize and clean workspaces. Ensure adequate supplies required for daily operations are available by restocking inventory, preparing reagents, rotating stock as required. Communicate with clinics, physicians and external staff regarding sample integrity issues and/or critical values. Perform daily set-up and maintenance on lab analyzers and automation line used to process samples. Operate equipment used in analysis such as spectrophotometers, analyzers, microscopes, slide stainers, diluters, and computer controlled high volume analyzers, mixers, rotators, pipettes. Perform basic troubleshooting on equipment used to perform testing. Document function checks of temperature dependent equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, incubators, water baths, heat blocks. Perform other duties as needed.
