Job Summary

As a Cardiac Sonographer I, you will play an important role in supporting timely diagnosis and treatment by performing comprehensive echocardiograms and related cardiac ultrasound studies for adult and/or pediatric patients in outpatient and hospital-based settings.

Qualifications

About the Role Following an orientation period, you will independently perform comprehensive transthoracic echocardiograms and/or bubble studies while demonstrating foundational knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, and pathology within your assigned patient population. You will review clinical indications, acquire high-quality diagnostic images, prepare accurate preliminary findings, and collaborate with interpreting physicians and care teams to support safe, efficient, and compassionate patient care. What You’ll Do Prepare exam rooms and ultrasound equipment in accordance with infection control, sterilization, and patient safety protocols. Review patient history, clinical indications, and prior reports or images to understand the purpose of each examination. Position patients appropriately and use ergonomic scanning techniques to support patient comfort, sonographer safety, and a positive patient and family experience. Perform comprehensive transthoracic echocardiograms independently within six months of hire, following department protocols and assigned patient population needs. Perform ultrasound contrast studies, agitated saline bubble studies, and complex portable studies when indicated. Acquire high-quality diagnostic images and recognize cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, and pathology relevant to the examination. Prepare accurate preliminary reports and communicate findings to the interpreting physician in a timely manner. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support activities necessary to maintain accreditation standards. Assist with scheduling and patient flow to support efficient departmental operations. Meet productivity and volume expectations as defined by department standards. Maintain patient privacy and comply with patient safety, departmental, hospital, and organizational policies. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS). Basic Life Support certification.

Preferred Qualifications
