Job Description Job Description: Fixed Asset Specialist / Associate Role Title: Fixed Asset Specialist / Associate Function: Finance & Accounting / Record to Report Level: Associate / Specialist Location: Hyderabad Role Summary The Fixed Asset Specialist / Associate is responsible for accurate recording, tracking, reconciliation, capitalization, depreciation, transfer, retirement, and reporting of fixed assets in line with company policies, accounting standards, and internal control requirements. The role supports month-end close, audit readiness, asset lifecycle governance, and process compliance across the fixed asset accounting function. Key
Responsibilities
Maintain the fixed asset sub-ledger by recording asset additions, transfers, adjustments, disposals, and retirements accurately and timely. Review capital expenditure transactions and ensure appropriate classification between capital and expense items as per company capitalization policy. Calculate, validate, and post monthly depreciation and amortization entries in accordance with applicable accounting policies. Perform monthly reconciliation of fixed asset sub-ledger balances with the general ledger and resolve variances within agreed timelines. Track Construction in Progress / Capital Work in Progress and support timely capitalization of completed projects. Prepare fixed asset roll-forward schedules, depreciation reports, asset movement reports, and other management reporting requirements. Support physical verification of fixed assets, asset tagging, and reconciliation of physical inventory results with accounting records. Process asset disposals, scrapping, impairments, and transfers with appropriate approvals and supporting documentation. Assist in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities related to fixed assets. Support internal, statutory, SOX, and external audit requirements by preparing schedules, evidence, and responses to audit queries. Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, delegation of authority, and applicable accounting standards. Identify process gaps, control issues, and automation opportunities to improve accuracy, efficiency, and governance in fixed asset accounting. Collaborate with Procurement, Accounts Payable, Operations, Projects, Tax, and Finance teams to ensure complete and accurate asset lifecycle tracking. Required Skills and Competencies Strong understanding of fixed asset accounting, capitalization rules, depreciation methods, asset retirement, and impairment concepts. Working knowledge of general ledger, sub-ledger reconciliation, journal entries, and month-end close activities. Good understanding of accounting standards such as IFRS / US GAAP / local GAAP, as applicable. Hands-on experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, BlackLine, or equivalent finance platforms preferred. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including reconciliations, pivots, lookups, and data analysis. High attention to detail, accuracy, ownership, and ability to manage deadlines in a close-driven environment. Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related discipline. 1–4 years of relevant experience in fixed asset accounting, general ledger, Record to Report, or finance operations.
Experience
in a shared service, BPO, or large enterprise finance environment is preferred. Exposure to month-end close, balance sheet reconciliation, audit support, and fixed asset register maintenance. Professional certification such as CA Inter, CMA, CPA, ACCA, or equivalent will be an added advantage. Preferred Systems / Tools Exposure SAP Fixed Assets / SAP FICO, Oracle Fixed Assets, or equivalent ERP fixed asset module. BlackLine or similar reconciliation and close management tool. Microsoft Excel for reconciliations, data validation, variance analysis, and reporting. ServiceNow, ticketing workflow tools, or document management platforms preferred. Key Performance Indicators Timely and accurate completion of monthly fixed asset close activities. Quality and ageing of fixed asset reconciliations and open items. Accuracy of capitalization, depreciation, disposal, and transfer accounting. Audit readiness, documentation quality, and timely closure of audit queries. Adherence to internal controls, approval matrix, and accounting policies. Reduction in manual errors, recurring variances, and process exceptions. Ideal Candidate Profile The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented finance professional with strong fixed asset accounting fundamentals, hands-on reconciliation experience, and the ability to operate in a deadline-driven close environment. The candidate should demonstrate ownership, control mindset, stakeholder collaboration, and a continuous improvement orientation to support accurate reporting and scalable finance operations. In this role, you will be responsible for all the activities related to General Accounting domain.
