Job Summary
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of the Practice Manager and Service Director, performs duties of technical assistance/administrative support.
Duties
include patient testing, contact lens insertion and removal training; as well as assisting with various administrative duties within the Optometry Department. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Performs contact lens instruction, including insertion and removal training on patients - Performs Administrative functions, covering front desk, checking in patients, etc. - Sets up and cleans examination and test rooms according to infection control standards - Insures that equipment is working properly and notifies appropriate personnel when a problem is identified - Performs auto-refraction and topography testing - Maintains adequate supplies of medical/ophthalmic supplies in exam rooms - Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide services appropriate to the age of the patients served in the service - Sterilization of soft and hard contact lenses in accordance with the infection control standards - Complies with all state, federal and local regulations and laws governing the performance of this position within this department. - Adheres to all policies and procedures, including confidentiality of patient and employee information, and attends annual in-service education. - Maintain patient confidentiality at all times, by phone, in discussion and by electronic distribution of information. - Perform other projects as assigned by Manager or physicians. - Adheres to MEE Standards of Behavior. - Demonstrates competency with documentation in EPIC system (EHR
