C.H. Robinson is currently seeking a Director North America Surface Transportation who will be accountable for the overall performance of the Chicago Central commercial center. As the Director, you will lead a team of approximately 200+ employees through a leadership structure that includes 6+ direct reports, while overseeing a multimillion-dollar portfolio of customer relationships. In this critical leadership role, you will own the center P&L, direct and coach the leadership team, and have a responsibility for translating enterprise priorities into measurable business results. You will ensure strong customer engagement, effective use of enterprise tools and capabilities, and a high-performing office environment.
Responsibilities
Lead the overall performance of the center, owning P&L results including revenue, margin, productivity, forecasting, and expense management while driving business outcomes through disciplined operating plans and performance management Drive exceptional customer outcomes by ensuring strong customer relationships, overseeing strategic issue resolution, leveraging customer performance data, and holding leaders accountable for service quality, retention, and execution excellence Establish and reinforce effective operating rhythms, governance, performance metrics, and accountability frameworks that create clarity around priorities, decision-making, resource allocation, and execution across the center Lead day-to-day operations by aligning resources, removing barriers to execution, improving workflows, and ensuring teams consistently deliver against business and customer expectation. Champion adoption and effective use of enterprise technology, AI-enabled tools, and standard capabilities to improve customer, operational, and financial performance while driving continuous knowledge sharing across teams Develop and lead a high-performing leadership team by setting clear expectations, building organizational capability, strengthening talent pipelines, and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement Serve as the senior leader for the center, partnering with enterprise stakeholders across operations, finance, HR, technology, and shared services to align business priorities, strengthen culture, and drive consistent execution Required
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university Minimum 8 years of leadership experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain, commercial operations, or a related business field Minimum 4 years of direct people leadership experience, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and talent development Proven experience leading business operations with accountability for financial, customer, operational, or productivity outcomes Ability to travel domestically up to 20%

Compensation Range $206,100.00 - $358,900.00 The base pay range displayed on the job posting reflects the minimum and maximum base pay for this specific location.
