In this position, you will provide detailed testing support for our Technical Services Laboratories. You will perform non-routine and complex assignments, taking responsibility for planning, conducting, and completing a variety of projects with relatively limited scope. You will work closely with project engineers and team members to develop testing scenarios, techniques, and guidelines for HVAC/R systems and components. You may also assist with training and mentoring new technicians. Strong communication is essential, as you will regularly provide updates on project status to engineers, management, and team members. You will use sound judgment to solve problems, manage risk, and help drive successful project outcomes. AS AN HVACR SYSTEMS / FIELD TEST TECHNICIAN, YOU WILL: - Install and set up heat pumps, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems and components for prescribed testing - Install data acquisition instrumentation on HVAC/R systems and system components - Use data acquisition equipment to monitor system operation and performance - Use data acquisition software to set up, program, and calibrate instrumentation devices - Run prescribed Laboratory tests - Design and fabricate special test fixtures - Travel to customer locations to provide service and support for engineering needs - Work in a team environment, communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms, and demonstrate conscientious and ambitious behavior SCHEDULE: This role is based fully on-site and is not eligible for hybrid or remote work opportunities. Your work schedule will be Monday - Friday, working 40 hours per week. We offer the flexibility of a core hour work schedule, meaning employees can flex their start and stop times given they are working during the core hours of 9:00am - 3:00pm. Our teams work together to ensure their chosen work schedules best support our customers. REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS: - Two (2) year technical or associate's degree plus three (3) years' experience in HVAC/R industry or an equivalent combination of education and experience - HVAC/R systems operation and systems control knowledge - Must be able to perform basic troubleshooting of test equipment, HVAC/R systems, and components - Must be proficient in reading wiring diagrams both schematic and ladder - Demonstrated proficiency in performing test compressor and HVAC/R system installations - Must have good written and verbal communication, computer, and organizational skills - Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position - Legal authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship will not be provided for this role - Ability to travel up to 10% of the time PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS: - Associate’s degree in HVAC/R plus five (5) years of relevant experience in the HVAC/R field or a similar lab environment, including testing HVAC/R systems and components. -Advanced knowledge of HVAC/R system operation, controls, and troubleshooting, with experience working with variable-speed drives. -Experience using data acquisition equipment, including Yokogawa hardware and software, and demonstrated ability to utilize PC-based data acquisition systems -Ability to design, fabricate, and modify specialized HVAC/R test setups and fixtures to support testing requirements. -Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and other technical software applications. -Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while effectively prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines. -Strong technical problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently on complex testing and evaluation activities.
