High School, GED or formal educational equivalent. Current and valid LPN license by the State of Arkansas and a Graduate of an accredited nursing program. One (1) year of clinical nursing experience or will consider a new grad with a current license and one year of previous medical experience (MA, PCT, CNA). Current BLS certification or must successfully obtain certification within the first 30 days of employment. Must have strong organizational skills and computer knowledge.

Responsibilities

Direct patient care within the limits of the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Arkansas, UAMS policies, procedures, and standards. Accountable for adhering to UAMS care guidelines. Observe patients, charting, and reporting changes in patients' conditions. Provide basic care and treatment of patients. Administer prescribed medications and start intravenous fluids, if needed. Assist patients in standing, walking, and other movements. Answer the patient's call and determine how to assist them. Collect samples such as blood, urine, and sputum from patients and perform routine laboratory tests on samples. Clean rooms and prepare exam room for the next patient. Inventory and requisition supplies and instruments. Record necessary data in regards to intake and output.
