Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Athletics and Recreation, the Deputy/Senior Associate Director will work to support the mission and core values of the University and Department as a member of the leadership team. The Deputy/Senior Associate Director will have broad supervision of internal operations supporting the student-athlete experience and varsity program strategic success, including compliance, and student-athlete development. This position will also provide strategic oversight of the department's signature events, marketing and promotions, fan engagement, and sports information. This position will serve as a department liaison to campus partners including communications, marketing, licensing and trademark. In addition, this position will provide oversight of selected intercollegiate programs.

Responsibilities

Serves as a member of the leadership team and lead daily department management in the Director of Athletics absence. Serve as a senior athletics administrator responsible for the oversight and coordination of departmental internal operations and strategic initiatives. Represent the University of Chicago Athletics Department as the Senior Woman Administrator (SWA). Work collaboratively with the Director of Athletics to develop, review, revise, and maintain departmental policies, procedures, and the student-athlete handbook. Supervise the Athletics Sport Administrator program, including assignment and oversight responsibilities for sport administrators and varsity sports programs. Maintain regular communication with coaches, student-athletes, and administrators to support program success, monitor experiences, and foster positive departmental culture and alumni relationship. Develop and implement operational strategies to support the success and competitive excellence of varsity sport programs. Oversees NCAA rules compliance education, monitoring and student eligibility. Creates and implements a marketing and promotion plan for home athletic events targeting current students, alumni, staff and the local community. Manages the Department's community engagement activities. Ensures student-athletes and athletics representatives comply with NCAA and University rules and regulations. Sets direction for the Department's communications and social media department. Collaborates with senior leadership team to optimize event management and facility scheduling. Supervises the Assistant Director for Internal Operations and Associate Athletic Director for Student- Athlete Success/Compliance. Manages a team of managers and professionals responsible for the planning, coaching, recruiting, administration, and promotion of University intercollegiate athletics programs. Ensures student-athletes and athletics representatives comply with NCAA and University rules and regulations. Manages counseling and advising of student-athletes on their academic, personal, and physical conditions, consulting with the appropriate University staff as necessary. Develops and implements an overall recruiting plan. Determines fiscal requirements and prepares budgetary recommendations; monitors, verifies and reconciles expenditures of budgeted funds. Seven years of athletic administration experience. Managerial experience. Certifications: Valid driver's license. Technical Skills or Knowledge: Proficient in computer skills, Microsoft Windows computer environment, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access and other software. Working Conditions
