About this role We are seeking a Staff Lab Technician to join our Compression Engineering team at our R&D center located in Syracuse, New York.

Responsibilities

include setup, maintenance, and operation of compressor performance and reliability test stands in a laboratory setting. Ability to perform hands on work with mechanical and electrical systems including knowledge of best practices for piping systems as well as power and control system wiring per NEC (National Electric Code) and UL (Underwriters Laboratory) codes. Use of test and measurement equipment and lab data acquisition systems. Key

Responsibilities

Installation and removal of compressors from test stands. Fabricate and connect associated piping, wiring, and test instrumentation. Perform system leak testing and transfer of refrigerants between test stands and storage containers. Perform compressor tests over operating conditions requested by engineering team. Collect and manage test data using manual and automated data acquisition systems. Modify test setups as instructed by engineering team. Perform repairs, modifications and preventative maintenance of compressor test stands. Basic

Qualifications

Associate degree in Air Conditioning Technology or Mechanical Engineering Technology. Universal EPA Section 608 certification or ability to pass training and certification test is required. Willing to obtain the required medical certification to operate Powered Industrial Vehicles (PIVs) including forklifts and work savers.

Experience

in air conditioning and refrigeration is a great asset. Working knowledge of commercial-industrial wiring, hydronic systems, AC Motors and Controls.

Experience

with single phase and three phase electrical power systems, VFDs, PLCs, PID Controls, transducers, flow meters, lab instrumentation and electrical test equipment including Yokogawa Power Analyzers.

Experience

with National Instruments-LabVIEW data acquisition systems is a plus. Ability to braze large piping using oxy-acetylene torches and use overhead cranes and rigging equipment for test setups. Proficient PC skills including Microsoft office programs. Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills. Self-motivated and capable of working with an experienced technical team. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced changing environment. Pay Range

The annual salary for this position is between $53,000.00 - $106,000.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate. Other Compensation This position may be entitled to short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.
