As a Software Engineer II, you will contribute to the design, development, and optimization of software systems for advanced aerospace applications. You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure software meets performance and quality standards. Responsibilities

Contribute to the development of prototype applications, tools, and early-stage software solutions that validate new ideas and test emerging capabilities. Translate exploratory concepts and business needs into implementable software components in collaboration with the Sr. Manager of the DIO. Integrate AI/ML model outputs, automation routines, and experimental algorithms into prototype systems in partnership with AI/ML engineers. Participate in rapid iteration cycles: building lightweight features, gathering feedback, refining functionality, and documenting learnings. Design, develop, and test software components for aerospace systems. Debug and troubleshoot complex software issues across prototype and preproduction environments. Write and maintain comprehensive code documentation to support knowledge transfer and potential scaling. Collaborate with team members to ensure code quality, architectural consistency, and adherence to development standards. Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.

Qualifications

You Must Have: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field. 2+ years of experience in experience in software development. Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience. Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Java, or Python. Knowledge of engineering principles and practices. Familiarity working in multi-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

We Prefer: Knowledge of real-time operating systems (RTOS). Understanding of industry standard software languages such as C, C#, C++, HTML, Java, Python, and Bash.

Experience

with software tools for requirements tracking, code reviews, static analysis, library and artifact repository, and automated build. Knowledge of software development methodologies such as Agile/Scrum, Waterfall, and Spiral. Basic understanding of data structures.

Essential Functions

Ability to work on a computer for extended periods. Hand/finger dexterity for coding and testing. Ability to work in a hybrid environment with occasional travel. Willingness to work in a prototyping-driven, exploratory environment where rapid learning, experimentation, and iteration are the norm. This posting will be open for application for a minimum of 5 days and may be extended based on business needs. Estimated Starting Salary Range: $94,345.12 - $129,724.54. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors, such as candidates' key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.
