Career Category Government Affairs Job Description Director, Government Affairs – Asia Region (Singapore) Live What you will do The Director of Government Affairs, JAPAC, will lead regional government affairs and healthcare policy coordination across the Japan Asia Pacific (JAPAC) region, supporting Amgen’s strategic priorities related to healthcare policy, pricing, intellectual property, trade, patient access, and healthcare system sustainability. This role will serve as a key connector between affiliate, regional, and global teams, translating global policy priorities into actionable regional strategies and supporting aligned, effective engagement with policymakers, payers, industry associations, and external stakeholders across diverse JAPAC markets. The Director will monitor and assess emerging healthcare, geopolitical, trade, and pricing policy developments impacting the region, providing strategic guidance and actionable insights to regional and affiliate leadership. This position requires a highly collaborative and strategic leader with strong regional policy expertise, excellent stakeholder management capabilities, and the ability to operate effectively in a highly matrixed and multicultural environment. Responsibilities

Lead regional alignment and execution of government affairs and healthcare policy priorities across JAPAC, ensuring coordinated strategies, consistent messaging, and visibility to key risks and opportunities. Anticipate, analyze, and communicate emerging healthcare policy, geopolitical, trade, intellectual property, and international reference pricing developments relevant to JAPAC markets, assessing implications and potential risk mitigation considerations. Coordinate closely with Washington DC, global, and ELMAC teams to ensure alignment on policy positions, advocacy priorities, and external messaging across regional and global initiatives. Support affiliate government affairs and policy teams in developing strategic narratives, stakeholder engagement plans, and approved messaging for engagements with government officials, payers, trade associations, and industry stakeholders across topics including pricing, reimbursement, intellectual property, biosimilars, tariffs, artificial intelligence, and healthcare system sustainability. Ensure regional and affiliate leaders are prepared to articulate Amgen’s perspectives on key healthcare policy, trade, pricing, and industry issues through briefing materials, leadership messaging, and strategic guidance. Support affiliates in assessing and responding to evolving government lead policy developments through timely policy guidance, cross-market insights, and sharing of relevant best practices. Bring affiliate perspectives, market intelligence, and regional insights into global government affairs and policy discussions, helping shape coordinated strategies across markets and regions. Develop and maintain strategic policy narratives, leadership briefing materials, stakeholder communications, and engagement content to support effective and consistent external engagement across the region. Collaborate across regions and with global partners to share insights, align approaches on common policy priorities, and identify emerging trends impacting pricing, access, intellectual property, trade, and healthcare systems. Represent Amgen in relevant regional industry associations, policy forums, and external engagements, contributing to collective advocacy efforts and strengthening Amgen’s policy leadership across JAPAC. Communicate regularly with regional and global leadership, providing clear and concise assessments of policy developments, risks, opportunities, and strategic considerations impacting the business. Education

Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Policy, International Relations, Law, Economics, Healthcare Policy, or related field required Advanced degree (MBA, MPA, Public Policy, Law degree, or equivalent) preferred

Experience

10+ years of experience in government affairs, healthcare policy, public policy, market access policy, trade policy, or related strategic policy roles Significant experience within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, or life sciences sectors strongly preferred Demonstrated experience working across Asia Pacific or other multinational regional environments

Experience

working with US Government officials in Embassies, consulates, and Washington DC on trade and other policy issues (preferred)

Experience

engaging with government officials, policymakers, trade associations, and healthcare stakeholders across multiple markets Proven ability to influence policy discussions and navigate complex healthcare and political environments
