Junior Estimator - Facilities Management Projects Team About the Role We are seeking a Junior Estimator to join our busy Facilities Management projects team at Liverpool University. As the incumbent FM provider, we deliver a comprehensive range of maintenance, small works, and larger projects across the university estate. Responsibilities
Estimating & Tendering Prepare accurate cost estimates for fabric, mechanical, and electrical projects ranging from minor maintenance works to larger capital projects Review project specifications, drawings, and site conditions to produce detailed take-offs and material schedules Obtain and analyze supplier and subcontractor quotations to ensure competitive pricing Prepare tender documentation and pricing schedules for submission to the client Support the senior estimating team with cost planning and budget development CAFM System Management Maintain and update the Computer-Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) system with project information, costs, and progress updates Generate reports from the CAFM system to track project performance and resource allocation Ensure data accuracy and completeness across all project records Support the implementation of process improvements within the CAFM platform Project Administration & Coordination Manage project documentation from inception through to completion, ensuring all records are accurate and up to date Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to gather necessary information for estimates Track project costs against estimates and report on variances Assist with the preparation of progress reports, valuations, and final accounts Maintain organized filing systems for drawings, specifications, quotations, and correspondence Support the procurement process including raising purchase orders and tracking deliveries Client & Stakeholder Communication Liaise with Liverpool University facilities team regarding project requirements and scope clarification Communicate effectively with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams to gather pricing information Attend site meetings and project briefings as required Provide clear and timely updates on estimate status and project progress Essential
Requirements
Basic understanding of construction processes, particularly in fabric, mechanical, and electrical disciplines Numeracy skills with attention to detail and accuracy in calculations Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective liaison with diverse stakeholders Proficiency in Microsoft Office package (Excel, Word, Outlook) for data management, reporting, and correspondence Willingness to learn and develop technical estimating skills Team player with a proactive, can-do attitude Desirable
Requirements
Previous experience in construction, facilities management, or a related field Familiarity with CAFM systems or similar project management software Knowledge of building maintenance and project delivery within an operational environment Qualification or working towards a qualification in Construction, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or related discipline
Experience
working in a client-facing environment, particularly within education or public sector
