Job Description Job Description: Intercompany Associate Role Overview The Intercompany Associate will be responsible for supporting accurate, timely, and compliant processing of intercompany transactions across multiple legal entities. The role will focus on intercompany accounting, reconciliations, billing, journal entries, month-end close support, issue resolution, and coordination with cross-functional finance teams to ensure clean books and effective financial controls. Responsibilities
Process intercompany transactions including cross-charges, recharges, settlements, allocations, accruals, and intercompany invoices in line with approved accounting policies. Prepare and post journal entries related to intercompany activities during monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles. Perform intercompany account reconciliations and ensure balances are matched, supported, and cleared within defined timelines. Investigate and resolve reconciliation differences, aged open items, billing mismatches, and intercompany imbalances by coordinating with relevant stakeholders. Support month-end close activities by ensuring completeness, accuracy, and timely reporting of intercompany balances. Prepare intercompany reports, aging summaries, variance explanations, and status updates for internal stakeholders and management review. Coordinate with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, Treasury, Tax, Controllership, and business finance teams to resolve operational dependencies. Maintain process documentation, supporting schedules, audit evidence, and country or entity-specific exceptions in accordance with company standards. Ensure adherence to internal controls, approval matrices, accounting policies, and applicable regulatory requirements. Support internal and external audit requests by providing required documentation, explanations, and reconciliation support. Identify recurring issues, perform root-cause analysis, and contribute to process improvements, automation opportunities, and standardization initiatives. Required
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline. 1–3 years of experience in accounting, finance operations, Record-to-Report, intercompany accounting, reconciliations, or shared services environment. Basic understanding of accounting principles, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
Experience
with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar finance platforms is preferred. Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including lookups, pivot tables, reconciliations, and data analysis. Key Skills and Competencies Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Ability to investigate discrepancies, identify root causes, and drive timely resolution. Good communication and stakeholder management skills across finance and business teams. Ability to manage deadlines during close cycles and prioritize multiple tasks effectively. Process-oriented mindset with focus on accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement. Comfortable working in a global, multi-entity, and multi-currency environment. Key Performance Indicators Timely completion of intercompany reconciliations and close activities. Reduction in aged open items and unresolved reconciliation differences. Accuracy of journal entries, invoices, settlements, and supporting documentation. Adherence to internal controls, process timelines, and audit requirements. Quality of stakeholder support and responsiveness to issue resolution. Contribution to process standardization, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives. Preferred
Experience
Prior exposure to intercompany billing, settlements, netting, eliminations, or foreign currency transactions.
Experience
in a BPO, shared services, captive finance center, or multinational corporate finance environment. Knowledge of tools such as BlackLine, ServiceNow, SAP, Oracle, or other reconciliation and workflow platforms. Understanding of SOX controls, IFRS, US GAAP, or local statutory accounting requirements will be an added advantage. In this role, you will be responsible for all the activities related to General Accounting domain.
