Duties
This will be used to fill multiple positions. *Sign-on Bonus available for eligible candidates** As individuals dedicated to ensuring the safety and quick recovery of our patients, surgical technologists are integral members of a team dedicated to providing the best care for patients through collaboration, communication and patient safety. As part of the TOSH teams, operating room scrub technicians define their practice through attention to detail with excellence and outstanding patient care, are driven by their expertise, compassion and dedication to evidence-based practice, and operate at a higher level of practice. If you are a Surgical Technician who has current Operating Room experience, we invite you to consider a career with The Orthopaedic & Spine Hospital at UAMS Health. The Surgical Technician will assembles supplies for surgical procedures, set up and maintains the sterile field, passes surgical instruments, and assists in room preparation. This professional nursing role will require the ability to coordinate care the needs for the surgical case the surgeon, nurses, other members of the team to provide an optimal outcome for the patient and work collaboratively with clinic providers, fellows, and staff. Requires the ability to effectively communicate.

High School Diploma or GED Plus Graduate of an NBSTSA-accredited Surgical Technology program OR NCCT-approved Surgical Technology program OR Completed military surgical/scrub tech training OR Have two or more years of on-the-job surgical/scrub experience in an acute care facility or ambulatory surgery center
Preferred Qualifications
1 year Operating room experience (preferred in Orthopedics) Scrub Tech Certification Orthopedic experience Additional Information:
Responsibilities
Ensures availability of appropriate instrumentation, supplies and equipment for assigned cases. Ensures that the room has been prepared for the upcoming cases, with appropriate equipment available and ready for surgical use. Ensures that the instruments are cleaned arranged and transported to the soiled workroom according to department policy; independently assists with instrument reprocessing tasks when assigned cases are completed and time permits; Ensures that the operating rooms are case-ready for the following day’s cases; Exhibits practical knowledge of OR equipment including maintenance and safety aspects. Utilizes available communication tools; demonstrates teamwork by offering assistance to other team members; Shares knowledge information and expertise with other staff; attends departmental in-services and other educational offerings; Consistently demonstrates new knowledge and skills through incorporation into actual clinical practice. Willing to learn new techniques. With any other duties assigned Customer Service: Interacts with, and assists, the public in a professional and friendly manner as needed. Demonstrates effective communication skills; communicates accurate and complete information; maintains strict confidentiality when necessary. Demonstrates positive working relationships with co-workers, management team, and ancillary departments; follows the Core Concepts of Patient and Family Centered Care and the Basic Code of Conduct Guidelines. Assists internal and external stakeholders, as needed, with exceptional customer service.
