Strategy Specialist / Engineer
Job description
Summary: Under the direction of the Lead Strategist, this position exercises responsibilities contributing to Customer Intelligence and Product & Business planning activities within the Electronics Management Department. The department is in charge of establishing the strategy and ensuring its proper execution, for the Software-Defined Vehicle Solution Business Unit (SDVBU) in Americas region. The SDVBU supplies Electronic Control Units, Sensors, Advanced Driver Assistance and Automated Driving Systems (AD/ADAS), Software and Mobility services, to major OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers.
Essential Functions
Customer intelligence: (35%) Collect, analyze, and consolidate information about customers and competitors. Draw assumed roadmap and directions of our main customers. Strategy: (15%) Based on customer intelligence result and internal communication, formulate proposals for: Comparison with the Business Unit roadmap (Product strategies, company research and advanced engineering plan, America region advanced engineering and development plan) and competitors’ roadmap. Recommendations for key technologies to be acquired. Recommendations for product roadmap amendments. Recommendation for advanced engineering and promotion activities. Contribute to redacting strategy description documents, including product roadmap, business forecasts, resource plan, strategy execution plan. Strategy execution: (35%) When receiving requests for information or for quotation (RFI/RFQ) from customers, gather information swiftly about the business opportunity. Share information and hold meetings with peers and management in America region and Japan to reach consensus on the relevance to pursue each opportunity. Update information database used to take strategic decisions, such as Human resource plans, Production footprint plans, Sales forecasts, Cost related databases. Formulate proposals for, and contribute to improving processes, workflows and database related to activities described therebefore. General: (15%) Collaborate with international cross-functional teams to understand the company situation and to discuss the relevance of the proposals. Represent the company with its major customers, and the public. Travel to customer locations supporting promotion, sourcing activities, with periodic travel with customer to company manufacturing facilities (domestic and international). Maintain a safe workplace and follow all regulations and requirements related to safety and environmental compliance. Follow all quality policy standards and ensure legal compliance in all activities.
Qualifications
Knowledge skills and abilities: Knowledge of Automotive engineering. Preferably a broad engineering background, with knowledge in at least one of the following fields: Embedded electronics, Software, Systems, AD/ADAS, Services. Strategic thinking. Customer oriented thinking. Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment. Ability to work in a team environment and present development outcomes to sponsors and customers. Excellent writing and communication skills will be required. Additionally, the ability to work independently with minimal direction is required, as are strong verbal and written communication skills.
Experience
with PCs and application software, such as MS Office tools is also required.
Education
Bachelor's degree in engineering or related area required. Master's degree preferred.
Experience
Minimum 6 years of development, industry experience or strategy is required Exposure to Automotive is required, including the following: An understanding of automotive components and embedded systems. Knowledge of ADAS and Autonomous Driving is a plus. An understanding of Software, Cloud, AI and data related business is a plus. An understanding of chassis systems and vehicle dynamics is a plus. An understanding of Powertrain systems for ICE and EV is a plus. Job level determined by various factors such as organization size, responsibility, career stage, and capabilities.
Working Conditions
Minimum 3 days / week in office (please note this may change based on business needs) Physical Demands: Required to sit or stand for long periods of time. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Have the ability to work 40-60 hours per week. Travel: Domestic and international may be required as needed. Work Environment: Primarily in a professional business office with periodic exposure to testing areas and manufacturing environments.
