Dow has an exciting and challenging opportunity for an Accounting Specialist, based in São Paulo (BRA) About you and this role: This position plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the Company’s financial statements, while supporting leadership with complex accounting analyses and the assessment of non-routine transactions, including Statutory Accounting.
Responsibilities
Ensure all accounting activities recorded in company books are accurate, complete, and compliant with GAAP and IFRS standards. Participate in core accounting functions, including: General ledger maintenance Financial scorecard review US GAAP to local statutory conversion Reconciliations and compliance with operational policies Prepare financial statement footnotes and supporting schedules. Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting closing processes. Implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure proper execution of transactions. Perform fluctuation analysis and financial statement analytics, providing meaningful explanations to senior management. Document and implement internal controls as required by SOX. Participate in process improvement and streamlining initiatives. Lead annual financial audits and quarterly reviews with external auditors, including preparation and review of schedules. Coordinate closely with other finance teams to ensure complete and accurate accruals. Support leadership with accounting analysis and unusual transactions. Lead accounting projects, including M&A activities. Educate internal partners on accounting policies and internal controls, resolving issues as they arise.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is preferred. Advanced English. Strong knowledge of USGAAP, IFRS and applicable accounting rules and regulations.
Experience
with SAP. 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in the manufacturing industry. Proven ability to prepare and review journal entries and account reconciliations. Knowledge of FASB, SEC requirements, SOX compliance, and best accounting practices.
