Application Development Consultant
Job description
Primary
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and enhance software solutions for key PLM applications, ensuring alignment with business requirements and existing architecture standards. Translate business requirements into functional technical solutions through close collaboration with business design groups and stakeholders. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across application, data, and integration layers, including problems with non-obvious root causes. Perform incident management activities in alignment with ITIL practices, including issue resolution, root cause identification, and follow-up actions. Maintain, modify, and support sub-systems, integrations, and third-party components within the PLM ecosystem. Ensure data integrity, system stability, and application reliability through sound design, validation, and operational practices. Develop and execute unit testing to ensure high-quality, reliable, and defect-free software deliverables. Adhere to established Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) practices, including coding standards, peer reviews, testing, and release processes. Communicate effectively with project managers, architects, and stakeholders to provide updates, escalate risks, and align on technical decisions. Seek guidance from senior engineers or architects when requirements are ambiguous or unfamiliar technical challenges arise. Develop and maintain technical documentation, including code documentation, design specifications, and operational procedures. Investigate and evaluate emerging technologies and tools to improve development practices and application capabilities. Support production deployments, including participation in change windows and off-hours activities as required. Operate effectively within CEST time zone expectations while supporting global delivery models. Required
Education
and
Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience. Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience. Minimum 6-9 years of experience developing and supporting enterprise applications. Hands-on experience applying information technology solutions within a specific business domain.
Experience
working with one or more enterprise technology stacks, programming languages, or frameworks.
Experience
working within structured SDLC and delivery processes.
Experience
in application support, maintenance, and troubleshooting in production environments.
Experience
using version control systems (GitHub, Git Desktop) and basic development tools. Exposure to integrated enterprise systems (e.g., PLM, ERP, CAD-related systems) and cross-functional processes. Familiarity with ITIL-based support models (Jira) and incident management processes (ServiceNOW).
Experience
documenting technical solutions and writing operational instructions. Growing understanding of business processes and how they translate into technical implementations. Skills & Abilities Minimum 6-9 years of experience developing with Java, C++ or C, HTML, CSS, JSON, & JavaScript. You must have minimum 6-9 years of experience in IT/Digital/Engineering. You must have PLM SmarTeam and/or Teamcenter implementation experience You have experience with DevOps toolchains like Jira or equivalent. You have experience with modern CI/CD toolchains such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or equivalent. You have experience with code repository such as SVN, GitHub, or equivalent. You have experience with REST/SOAP APIs or equivalent. You have experience with CAD or CATIA V5 or Siemens NX or equivalent. Application design and development within enterprise environments Troubleshooting, debugging, and root cause analysis Data integrity, validation, and system stability practices SDLC processes, coding standards, and testing practices Basic scripting, database interaction, or automation techniques Developing enterprise system integrations (SAP, MES, CAD/CAE/FEA, etc) and workflows Ability to analyze business needs and translate them into technical solutions under guidance. Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills with a consistent track record of delivery. Ability to work effectively under broad supervision while maintaining accountability for deliverables. Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business users, developers, and IT stakeholders. Strong attention to detail with a focus on solution quality and stability. Self-motivated with the ability to learn new technologies and adapt to evolving environments. Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
