Senior Enterprise Software Test Engineer

A Day in the Life Medtronic is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Sr. Software Test Engineer - Automation to join our Affera Mapping and Ablation System team. This role is essential in supporting the testing and quality assurance processes to ensure the reliability and performance of our advanced medical devices. You will be an integral member of the Affera Software Team, working on cutting-edge technology in the electrophysiology field. In this role, you will contribute to the development and validation of innovative medical technology by designing and implementing robust automated testing solutions. You will collaborate with systems, software, hardware, and quality engineering teams to ensure software functionality meets product and regulatory requirements. You will analyze workflows, identify potential quality risks, develop automated test strategies, and support continuous improvement of the software development and verification lifecycle.
Responsibilities
may include the following and other duties may be assigned: Design, develop, and maintain scalable automated testing frameworks for complex software systems. Develop automated tests to verify software requirements and ensure product reliability. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including software, systems, hardware, and quality engineering. Investigate and implement new automation tools and technologies to improve testing efficiency. Analyze software workflows and identify areas for improved testing coverage. Apply software development lifecycle processes and verification best practices. Create and maintain detailed test protocols and documentation. Execute automated and manual tests to verify system functionality. Diagnose and debug software issues in collaboration with development teams. Ensure compliance with medical device regulatory standards and quality processes. Maintain multiple hardware and software test configurations. Work with engineers to resolve software defects and diagnose/improve product configuration for current and future models. Participate in innovation and continuous improvement initiatives related to testing and automation. Required knowledge and
Experience
Bachelor’s degree in computer science software engineering or equivalent with 12 to 16 years of relevant experience. Bio-Medical expertise will be preferred. Strong programming experience in languages such as Python, C# or C++.
Experience
testing on Web / Desktop Applications.
Experience
with UI automation tools such as Ranorex, Appium, Katalon, or Squish.
Experience
designing and implementing test automation frameworks.
Experience
with software verification and validation processes. Familiarity with software development lifecycle methodologies.
Experience
collaborating with cross functional engineering teams.
Experience
working in Agile or Scrum development environments.
Experience
with hardware debugging tools such as oscilloscopes or function generators. Ability to manage, track and upgrade multiple hardware and software configurations.
Experience
using version control systems such as Git. Familiarity with test management tools such as Polarion, TestRail, JAMA, or TFS. Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills. Excellent documentation and communication skills. Quality Management System – Test Planning, Strategy. Ability to work with QA to ensure testing meets Quality and Regulatory needs. Nice to have:

Experience
working with Linux environments is preferred.
Experience
in medical device software development or regulated environments. Knowledge of medical device standards such as IEC 62304 and FDA software guidance. Knowledge on CI-CD Workflow. Docker. Knowledge of AI tool usage. Like Co-Pilot, Cursor.
